WEDDING BELLS

ROBERTSON—FINNERTY. A wedding of more than usual local interest was celebrated at St. Gary’s Church, Bluff, on August 28, the contracting parties being Miss Mary Jane Finnerty, fourth daughter of Mr. Roger Finnerty, of Bluff, and Mr. Gerald Thomas Robertson, third son of Mr. Thos. Robertson, of Opio. Rev. Father Kavanagh performed the ceremony. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in a pretty dress of cream silk voile trimmed with cream satin, a beautiful handworked tulle veil, a white osprey, and carrying a handsome shower bouquet. She was attended by two bridesmaids—Miss Annie Finnerty (sister) and Miss Lizzie Yette (niece). Mr. W. Robertson (brother of the bridegroom) officiated as best man, and Mr. J. Hickey as groomsman. At the conclusion of the ceremony the party adjourned for the wedding breakfast, at which Mr. ■ Lynch presided, and proposed the toast of the newly-married couple. In doing so he made felicitous reference to the esteem in which both bride and bridegroom were held. The other customary toasts were also duly honored. The bride’s travelling costume was a navy blue serge, tailor-made and set off with dovegrey picture hat. The presents were numerous and valuable, including several cheques, and they made , a most imposing array. The bridegroom’s present to the bride was a pretty gold bangle set with' pearls and rubies, while to the bridesmaids he presented pearl spray brooches. The bride’s gift to the bridegroom consisted of a set of gold inscribed sleeve links. " A presentation was made at the railway station on the previous evening by the Bluff staff to Mr. Robertson in honor of his approaching marriage. Mr. J. Barker, in handing Mr. Robertson a handsome aneroid barometer, referred eulogistically to the good feelings which existed between Mr. Robertson and his fellowmembers on the Bluff staff. They wished Mr. and Mrs. Robertson every prosperity.
