At a meeting of St. Joseph’s Ladies’ Club on Sunday evening, Miss E - Salmon was elected , secretary in place of Miss M. Munro, . whose resignation was accepted with regret. ,• ' : i; r vf ; A very, edifying sight was witnessed -at the nine o’clock Mass at St. Joseph's Cathedral on Sunday, when about sixty members of the Christian Brothers’ Football Club approached the .Holy Table in a body. There was a large audience, in J St. Joseph's Hall on- Monday evening, when a debate was held between the members of St. Joseph’s Men’s Club and those of St. Patricks Club, South Dunedin. . The subject, chosen for discussion was ‘ Is?.a .Labor Government desirable in New Zealand ?', the affirmative 'of which was taken by St. Joseph’s team. The , debating was of >.;a very high order, and the judge,. Mr. Stephens, was: very, complimentary in his remarks regarding the excellence of the delivery and general style of speaking exhibited by members of both sides. The St. Patrick’s Club was awarded the victory after a very close contest, and was loudly applauded by the, audience. : . ,„V : - & St, Joseph’s Hall, was; crowded on Wednesday evening of last week on the occasion of the concert, in, aid of the boys’ choir fund. ...The, frequent, applause andnumerous encores showed that the excellent programme, was highly appreciated. Keligher, who is quite a youthful conductor, wielded the baton for the first time at a public performance, and was warmly congratulated on his success. Miss C.
