Gisborne

(From our own correspondent.) • August 25. A fatal accident occurred on Friday morning, when a little girl named Maud Bissell lost her life. The child was riding on a waggon along with some companions on their way to school. It appears a second waggon was being trailed along for repairs, and the children were climbing from one to the other, when deceased fell off, the wheel passing over the unfortunate child’s head. Much sympathy is felt for the sorrowing parents, deceased being an only child.—R.l.P. A most enjoyable social was held at Patutahi on Thursday evening. Rev. Father Carran thanked the energetic committee for the grand success they had made of the social. Songs were rendered by Miss Woollett and Mr. G. Turner, and a recitation by Mr. R. Smith.
