Parnell

(From an occasional correspondent.) The devotion of the Forty Hours’ Adoration began in the Church of St. John the Baptist, Parnell, on Sunday, June 23, the feast of the patron of the Church, St. John the Baptist. Rev. Father Patterson .was celebrant of the Missa Cantata, and preached in the evening on the Blessed Sacrament. After the sermon there was a procession of the Blessed Sacrament. On Monday evening Rev. Father Clarke was the preacher. Many availed themselves of the oportunity of going to the Sacraments, and the attendance was exceedingly good during the various exercises of the beautiful devotion. Socials are held regularly at Parnell to assist in liquidating the debt on the presbytery. The attendance at these functions has been very good. It is to be hoped that the result will be satisfactory, as the ladies’ committee are working most zealously to attain success.
