OBITUARY

MISS MARY LYNCH, AUCKLAND. The Month s Mind for the repose of the soul of the late Miss Mary Lynch was celebrated on June 1,8 by Rev. Father Edge at the Sacred Heart Church, Ponsonby. The deceased, who was the eldest daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Lynch, formerly of Mange re but latterly of Ponsonby, died after a short but severe attack of influenza on May IS, fortified by all the rites.of Holy Church. She was educated by the Loreto Nuns, of Loreto Abbey, Rathfarnham, Dublin, in company with her sister, Rev. Mother Mary Aquinas, of the Sisters of Mercy, .Ponsonby. By a special privilege the body of deceased rested all night in the convent chapel- of the Sisters of Mercy, and next morning a (Requiem Mass was celebrated by Father Edge, Ponsonby. the music being rendered by the Sisters. The funeral then left for Symoml street, where the remains were interred by the side of deceased’s parents. The burial service was read by Rev. Father Finn, of St. Benedict’s, assisted by Fathers Edge, Holbrook, and Ormond. Of a sweet and genial disposition she was beloved by all, and her efforts were untiring in the cause of charity and other good works. In her the Ladies of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul have lost a truly ardent worker, she having been for many years treasurer of their society. Many Masses have been offered for the repose of her soul by tile priests of the diocese, and at the request of the. following societies to which she belonged:—The Society of the Sacred Heart, Altar Society, Children of Mary, St. Vincent de Paul, and by the choir of the Sacred Heart Church, Ponsonby. and manv expressions of sympathy from all parts of the Dominion have been gratefully received .by v Rev. Mother Aquinas, and by her bereaved relatives.—
