; v - His Grace the Archbishop, speaking at Gisborne on a recent occasion, gave a practical illustration of the crusade ot; taise charges, and it showed how the faith of Catholic children is undermined by means of the Bible lessons in State schools (writes the Melbourne correspondent of the Freeman s Journal). A Catholic teacher had to remain to keep order whilst a non-Catholic Bible woman was giving instruction. .She said. to the mixed class— an old man was found crying in the-street, and he said that the cause of his distress was that he had- not a shilling to pay for confession to the priest ! But it is almost waste of time to refute those people, who at stated periods bring forward their stock calumnies against the 'Church.
