N.Z. DISTRICT ANNUAL MEETING

(From our Auckland correspondent.) February 24. The annual meeting of the New Zealand district of the H.A.C.B. Society was held in the Hibernian Hall, Wellington street, Auckland, last evening. Bro. C. Mulholland, D.P., occupied the chair; Bro. H. Nerheny, D.V.P., vice-chair; Bros. P. J. Nerheny, P.D.P., and W. Kane, D.S., and Bro. M. J. Sheahan, D.T., were present, and also Bros. Rev. Frs. Holbrook (chaplain), and Ormond. The following branches were represented: —Greymouth (Bro. S. Nerheny), Charleston (Bro. W. Duffin), Grahamstown (Bro. Jos. M. Foy), Dunedin 1 (Bro. Jas. Lynch). Sister branches—(Sister E. Kane), Wellington (Bro. Thos. S. Collins). Annual Report. The officers' report stated that five deceased brothers' death claims and two deceased brothers' wifes' death claims, amounting to £l2O, were paid in the last six months, leaving a credit balance of £8478 17s 4d. The profit for the term amounted to £438 19s lOd ; £IOOO was lent on mortgage at 5 per cent., and the amount now on mortgage is £8475. The general account balance was £457 lis 2d, and the guarantee fund balance was £440 18s lid, £3OO of which was out on mortgage. Three new branches were openedviz., Opunake, Meanee, and Port Chalmers. Sick Fund Consolidation. —Bro. Beehan strongly urged the district executive to consider the question of consolidating the sick funds of the branches of the district. Parliamentary Representative. —Bro. Beehan was appointed Parliamentary agent to watch over the interests of the society when friendly society matters were under consideration. Correspondence.—Christchurch delegates complained of the non-registration of the new rules, and the delay in forwarding the report of the last district meeting.—Both matters would be attended to by the executive. Presentation.— presentation of a. past president's collar was made by the president to P.D.P. Bro. Dane, who suitably replied. Election of Officers. —The following officers were elected for the ensuing term: District President, Bro. H. Nerheny; D.V.P., Bro. J. M. Foy; D.S., Bro. W. Kane; D.T., Bro. M. J. Sheahan; auditors, Bros. J. B. R. Stead and Jas. Smith. Souvenir. Bro. Beehan moved that a suitable souvenir be made to P.D.P. Bro. P. J. Nerheny, and that his name be placed on the Merit Board. Bro. Mulholland seconded the motion, which was carried.
