Lordship Bishop Grimes will be celebrant; of the Pontifical High Mass, and the occasional preacher in the evening. His Lordship the Bishop is to preside at the annual prize-giving ceremony in connection with the Sacred Heart Convent, Timaru, on Friday, December 16. The prize distribution at the High School of the Sisters of the Missions is fixed for December 15.

There will be. First Communion of the children in the Cathedral on Sunday next. Vespers will be at 3 o’clock in the afternoon instead of at the usual later hour, when the Sacrament of Confirmation ./-will be administered by his Lordship the Bishop.

The devotion of the Forty, Hours’ Adoration will be commenced in the Cathedral with Pontifical High Mass at 9 o’clock on next Friday morning. Very complete arrangements, have beep made for a great solemnity in honor of the Blessed Sacrament.

The Marist Brothers' Old Boys' Association have undertaken to organise the annual picnic and excursion in connection with the Cathedral parish. The Riccarton Racecourse has been obtained for the occasion, which is fixed for Boxing Day, and any profits accruing from the venture are to be devoted to the Catholic schools' fund. An unbroken period of perfect holiday weather favored Carnival Week, with the result that enormous gatherings were in evidence at all the various . events. A new record in attendance was established at the A. and P. Show on Friday last (People's Day), the number present being 37,000, whilst on the first and second days there was a greater attendance than ever before. Qreymouth (From our own correspondent.) October 27. On Wednesday, October 26, Mr. Howard Hadley, examiner of practical music for the Associated Board of the Royal Academy of Music and Royal College of Music, London, conducted the annual examination in Greymouth. Eight pupils were presented by the Sisters of Mercy, and all were successful. The following is the list:— Centre, advanced grade. —M. E. Noonan.
