DIOCESE OF CHRISTCHURCH

(From our own correspondent.) October 24. Expressing his views on bazaars at the opening of one last week, the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr. C. His Lordship the Bishop made an episconal visitation at Lincoln on Sunday at 11 o’clock, when the Sacrament of Confirmation was administered. The Rev. Father Hyland accompanied his Lordship, and made an appeal in aid of the Cathedral debt extinction fund. A short time will be spent in the district of which .the Rev. Father Droan, M.S.H., has charge. A bazaar, promoted in aid of the Cheviot Catholic Church, which extended over the three previous nights and Saturday afternoon, was terminated on last Monday evening, and resulted in a substantial addition to the funds .of the church. Numerous attendants did excellent business in the various departments, while the supper-room and stalls were well looked after by Mesdames Hughes, Flaherty, and Kelly, and Misses Hayes and Butterworth. Musical programmes were provided by the Misses Coakley and Rev. Father Richards.,,
