Marisi; Brothers' Old Boys' musical branch give an entertainment this evening in the Ponsonby Hall in aid of the Altar Society of the Sacred Heart parish. The Right Rev. Father Holbrook, left on Saturday for Cambridge, where his Lordship administered the Sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday. , , The following are the officers of the Confraternity of Children of Mary (Cathedral parish) for the ensuing twelve months : — President, Miss Julia Rist ; vice-president, Miss Mary Rist; secretary, Miss Mary Dinan; treasurer, Miss Mary Duffin. The board passed a resolution to the effect that in view of the Auckland Corporation assuming control of the cemetery on January 1, and that as the children attending St. Benedict's School now occupied a corner portion, where old St. Francis de Sales' Church stood,' for a playground, 1 it was hoped that' the children would not be disturbed in the enjoyment of ' it; • The secretary was instructed to convey to the' Mayor and each councillor a copy of the resolution. ,It is hoped that the ground may be retained for the children,' as they have no other playground.
