A social gathering promoted by the Children of Mary in aid of the parish debt was held in the Zealandia Hall on Wednesday last, and was a great success. The early part of the evening was devoted to a short concert programme, which w.as entrusted to Mr. W. T. Ward, conductor of St. Patrick's choir, and great praise is due to that gentleman for the musical treat ~he placed before his audience at such a short notice. Every item was well received, and encores were the order of the evening. The following contributed to the concert programme : — Misses Ward (2), Clifford, Griggs, and Mrs. Adams (Dannevirkc), Messrs. W. T. Ward, Hanley, Tabor, and Hanlon, arid little Miss Louie Wood. The refreshments, which were supplied by the ladies of the parish, were dispensed by the Children of Mary.
