The Rev. Fathers O'Connor anil O'Sulliwan made an appeal in the parish of Newtown (Sydney,) on Sunday, February 2, on^ behalf of the 'Killarney Cathedral, when a sum of £30 was subscribed. Rev. Father Hennebry, of the archdiocese of Hofaart, *• has just celebrated the fortieth anniversary of his ordination. His Grace the Archbishop has appointed Father Hennebry irremovable rector of St. Joseph's parish. The Loreto Convent at Kirribilli was , opened by his Eminence- Cardinal Moran on Sunday afternoon, February 2. The cost of buildings and property amounted to about £5000. A sum of £120 was subscribed at the ceremony. Brother Geoghegan, late of the Christian Brothers, Adelaide, has been appointed to the charge of the Christian Brothers' High School in North Melbourne. His • place in Adelaide has been filled by Brother O'Dwyer, of West Australia. His Grace the Archbishop of Melbourne a*nd Bishop Hiiggins of Ballarat (says the ' Monitor ' of January 31), were the guests of his Excellency the Governor and Lady Edeline Strickland during their stay in Hob'airt. Bishops Corbett and Dunne were the guests of his Grace the Archbishop-Elect, and Bishop Revdlle was the guest of Mr. J. G. Edwards, Battery Point. Immediately after the ceremonies of the Month's Mind of the late Archbishop Murphy , had concluded and the congregation had retired, the Archbishop assembled the priests of the diocese in. the Cathedral and informed them, (says the 'Monitor') that he had arranged* to leave for Rome early in March. Luby, of St. Ambrose's Church, Brunswick, Victoria, was recently entefiained at a conversazione and presented with an illuminated address, priox to his leaving on a well-deserved holiday 1 after thirty years' missionary, work in the archdiocese. During the eighteen years Father Luby had been. in charge of St. Arrlbrose's parish a sum of £18,000 had been collected and expended for Church and school purposes. His Grace the Archbishop of Melbourne has made the following clerical changes and appointments : — Rev. J. J,. M'Carter to have charge of the Brunswick parish diultg the absence of the Rev. E. J. Luby, P.P. ; Rev. T. English to 1 fulfil a similar position in the Castlemaine mission during the absence of the Rev. J. O'Neill; Rev. *• W. O'Farrell - has been transferred from Dandenong to • Brunswick ; Rev. M. A. Vaughan from Geelong, to Dandenong ; Rev. M. Ryan from ' St. Kilda West to Elsternwick ; Rev. J. .A. Gibibons from South Yarra to Heidelfoarg ; Rev. P. H.. Boyle f rom, Footscray to Collingwood. The archdiocese of Sydney is to have a new ecclesiastical seminary. It will be a branch of St. Patrick's, Manly, and .his Eminence the Cardinal has decided to name it 'St. Columiha's Junior College and Seminary for Foreign Missions.' A site, a few miles from Springwood (says the ' Catholic Press'), has been purchased^ A magnificent building will be erected, and at present the plans are being worked out. • The college ,will overlook the beautiful Richmond and Kurrajong Valleys, and will stand, over 1200 feet above the level of the'surroundr ing plains. It will command a distinct view of -Sydney and the distant sea. The Month's Mind for the^late Archbishop Murphy took place in St. Mary's Cathedral, Hobart, on- -Wednesday morning, January 29. There was a large gathering of clergy and laityi The Office for the Dead began at 1C o'clock, his Grace the Archbishop presiding. The Rev. Fathers Murphy (New- Norfolk) and Shinnick (St. Mary's Cathedral) were the cantors. The assiist'- * ants at the throne were the Right Rev. Mga:. Hoyne and the Vein. Archdeacon Beechinor. There were also' present his Grace the Archbishop of Melbourne ; N the the Right Rev. Dr. Reville; Bishop of Sandhurst ; the Right Rev. Dr. Dunne, Bishop of .Wilcannia ; the Right Rev. Dr. Higgiois, Bishop of Ballarat ; the Right Rev. Dr. Corbett, Bishop of Sale ; the clergy of the archdio- ■ cese, i and several priests from Victoria. Bishop Corbett ' celebrated the Pontifical Requiem Mass. The Cathedral was crowded with a representative congregation. Among those present were Ms Excellency the Governor,- SirGerald Strickland, the Premier, the Attorney-General, the Minister for Lands, the Lord Mayor of Sydney (Al.derman Thos. Hughes), Sir P. O.
