The object of the Mariafc Fathers in this country, as in their colleges in Europe and America, is to impart to their pupils a thoroughly Religious and a sound Literary education, whioh will enable them in after-life to dischar ge "their duties with honour t 0 Beligion t*nd Society, and with oredt and advantage to themselve - Students are prepared for the N,Z. University Junior and Senior Civil Service, Medical Entrance, Solicitors' General Knowledge, Bank and all other Public Examinations. Students not preparing for the learned Professions have the advantage of a Speoial Commercial Course, under effloient management, where they are taught all that will be of use in mercantile pursuits. Speoial attention is also paid to the teaching of Physical Science, for whioh purpose the Colege possesses a large Laboratory and Demonstration Hall, Yooal Music, Elooution, Drawing, ana all other, branohes of a Liberal Education receive dne attention. Physical cultnre is attended to by a competent Drill Instructor who trains the students three times a week in Drill, Bifle Praotioe and Gymnastics. A large aad well-equipped Gymnasium is attached to the College. The religious and moral training of the pupils is an object of special oare, and particular attention is. bestowed on the teaching of Christian Doctrine. A well-appointed Infirmary attached to the College ia under the charge of the Sifters of Compassion, from whom in case of illness all Btudenta receive the moßt tender and devoted oare, and who at all times pay particular attention to the younger and more lelioate pupils, who without such oare would find the absence of home oomfortß very trying.
