It is not, after all, human eloquence, but the grace of God, the Holy Spirit, that makes the preached Ward fruitful. As in the early ages, the benign • influence of tlie Church and its educational power wrought a marvellous change in the barbarian - hordes.-that devastated Europe, as fti'e Popes rescued society and preserved civilisation. As in the crucial peiiod of the Middle Ages, vh-n the old order was going, out. in ,the wildest confusion, the Church inaugurated and directed a new order in the way of Christian enlichtenrnmt. So down through the ages which are to come, Ih^. Catholic Ch'irch-will ever be faithful to her mission of teaching, will' reveal to future generations the newer and higher life, the end of all true education, by directing them to seek first the Kinpdom nf God and His justice.
