MARIST BROTHERS SCHOOLS, WELLINGTON

The annual prize-giving and entertainment in connection with the Marist Brothers' School, Wellington, were held in- His Majesty's Theatre. The building" was crowded with parents and friends, and Archbishop Redwood presided. A miscellaneous programme of a high order was provided by the boys, and the way- in which the different items were- rendered reflected credit on the teachers. Archbishop Redwood, in the course of a fewremarks, referred to the good work being carried on in the school; The result of the year's work was very creditable both to ' the teachers and -boys. ' He wished specially to emphasise the self-sacrificing efforts of the masters of the school. They were practically devoting their. lives to the work. Educating the young was,' he said, one of the noblest occupations .of man. In, his opinion the Catholic body had the best educational system in the Dominion. They dealt with every side of the boy's life. The following is the full list of prizes :—: — - Special prizes.— Vocal solo, C. Hill ; violin -solo, P. Lawlor.
