Cecil Morkame was ordained to the priesthood in Rome recently for the diocese of Dunedwi. Father Morkane is a brother cf Dr, Morkane, of Kumara. Mrs. Morkane has left for Canada to meet her son on his way out to New Zealand. On Monday morning a Solemn Requiem Mass for the repose of the soul of the late Father McGrath was celebrated at St. Joseph's Cathedral. His Lordship the Bishop was- celebrant, Rev. Father Cleary assistant priest, Rev. Father O'Reilly deacon, Rev. Father Corcoran subdeacon, and Rev. Father Coney master of ceremonies. The music of the Mass was sung by" the Dominican Nuns. The Dunedin and St. Joseph's Harrier Clubs assembled in force on Saturday at the invitation of the Hon. J. B. Dalian for a run from his residence in Leven street, Roslyn. The hares laid a trail in to the 'K'aikorai Valley and up the hill towards the reservoir 'returning home through Brocirville. Notwithstanding a'very^ cold wind the outing was voted most enjoyable, and a welcome break from the monotony of the usual run>. From the top of the hill the snowscapes were very fine. After the run a pleasant hour was spent with the host and hostess.

There was a crowded attendance at South Dunedin Town Hall on. Friday evening on the occasion of the 'cntertainiment in aid of liquidating the debt on St. Patrick's School. Songs were contributed by Mesdames King and Sandes, Miss Violet Fraser, and Messrs. A. Murphy, P. Carolin, and T. J. Hussey, nearly all of which were encored. The two glees by the Christian. Brothers' boys were highly appreciated an<d enthusiastically encored. The first part of the programme was brought to a conclusion with a humorous sketch by Mr. Blandford. Miss Mabel King played the accompaniments in a finished" manner. The second part consisted of a- comedy, entitled ' A White Stocking ' ki which the characters were sustained by Mrs. Ma'cKnicht (Lydia Stapleton'), Mr. T. J. Pemtoerton (Rev John Stapleton), Mr. Arthur Garid'ner (Captain Faversham.), Mr. Bernard Petre (Peter). The piece was admirably staged and played, and was productive of much amusement. The Rev. Father Howard, who presided, took the opportunity during the evening of thanking the performers fox their services and the audience for their patronage.
