Last Sunday at St. Mary's Church the members of * the St. Mary.'s Catholic blub, numibiering about 100, attended 8 o'clock Mass to receive Holy Communion. The Month's Mind of the late Rev. Father McGrath took place at Patea on last Thursday morning, when Very Rev. Dean Grogan was present. ' The village fair in aid of the Union Rowing Club continues to be well patronised, and last night (Thursday) a squad of sixteen Marist Brothers' Swpils gave an interesting exhibition of dumb-bell exercises. The St. Mary's Catholic Club has been presented with a gold medal by Mr. J. Walsh (captain of the Auckland Old Boys' Football Club) which - recently visited Wanfjanui. It will be competed for in a billiard tournament, Avhich is being arranged for that purpose. r The following are the results of the practical examination held by Mr. Walter Wesche in connection with the Associated Board of the Royal Academy of Music and Royal College of Music:—L ocal CentresAdvanced grade— Singing, Dora Carroll. Intermediate— Fiano, Annie Sullivan and Lucy Shanly. School examination—Higher division— Piano, Phyllis Clapham, Eileen Perritt ; singing, Josephine Lloyd, Ularape G-ower. Lower school— Piano, Olive Oldberg ; piano and violin, Annie O Sullivan. Elementary— Piaiio (honors), Nellie Bennett and Nancy McKirdy ; pass, Eileen Carvel and Freda Scales ; singing, Kathleen Wood. Out of the eighty-five candidates who presented themselves, only forty passed, the convent being successful with fifteen passes, including the only honors (two) that were conferred.
