There was a large attendance at the weekly meeting oi' the St. Columba Club last Monday evening, when two new members were elected, and two candidates pro- -osed for membership, 'lhe item on the syllabus^ for the evening was a ' Mock Parliament.' Mr. D. Butler, as Premier, showed he has a good knowledge of Parliamentary procedure, whilst Mr. W. Packer made an excellent leader of the Opposition. Mr. John Ilannan was appointed Spea 1 er. The proceedings were carried out in strict Parliamentary style, and" a very amusing and instruct he evening resulted. At the same meeting the secretary (Mr. R. C. Ileffernaii) was instructed to accent fie challenge ot the Trinity Club to me6t in debat?. Mess's. Win. Dufly, D. Butler, P. White and W. Paci-er were ehesen'to represent the St. Columra Club. The annual meeting of the (ireymouth Catholic Hand was held last briday e\oinn:r, when iherc was a full attendance of members. i\]r. p Deere occupied the chair. The report and balance slioet were read and adopted, and showed the finances of the band to be in a very satisfactory state. The e'ection of officers for the -ensuing twelve months then took place and resulted as follows :— Conductor, Mr R Phillips' sergeant, Mr. P. Deere; corpora!, Mr. J. Willis ■ Wretary and treasurer, Mr. W. (1 O'Doiinell ; custodian, Mr S. Young ; committee, Messrs. W Sullivan S. Lwart, C. (Joodhall, .1. Stuart, and S. Young.' The conductor (Mr. R. Phillips) has presented a handsome cold medal for the most regular attendance during the next six montiis.
