ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET
There were small entries at the Addington live stock market in all departments except pigs, and the attendance wa4 below the aperage. Prices for fat stock were generally higher, beef showing a sharp rise. The fat sheep market was firmer, and there was good sale far fat pigs and an "upward demand for stores.
Fart Lambs.— About 20 new season's fat lambs were penmod, I*o best selling at from 21s to 265,. and a few smaller at 14's«
Fat Sheep.— The yarding of fat sheep was a moderate one, consisting iurincipally of wethers in small lolts and on« 'good line 'of merino wethers. The sale opened at improved rates, which eased somewhat later on. Though prices were irregular, they were slightly higher for good sheep. Prime wethors made from 24s to 27s ; extra, to 29s , others, 21s to 23s Gd , prime ewes, 25s to 27s Gd ; medium, 19s to 22s ; prime merino wethers, 18s 9ld to 21s.
Fat Cattle. --Thlo entry totalled only 110, the bulk of which 1 were useful steers. Tive short supply caused a sharp rise in prices, prime beef selling at from 25s to 27'S 6d f and in some cases a little over ; and medium quality, 21s to 23s per 1001 b. Steers made fram £8 15s to £13 15s ; heifers, £s 7s 6d to £7 ; and cows, £4 5s to £9. The \eal calves offered -were mostly small sorts, and sold at from 7's Gd to 37s Gd.
Pigs —There was a large yarding of pags, baconers selling at late rates, while porkers were firmer, and there waa improved demand for stores conseqiuent upon the operations of several Peninsula buyers. Heavy buconors brought from 10s to 47s Gd, and lighter from 32s to 38s— equal to 3|d to 3|'d per lb ; porkers, 26s to 35s— 'eqfiial to '4d to 4-Aci per \h ; large stores, 22s Gd to 30's ; medium, 15s to 22s , and weaners, 6s to 12s &d.
