A very large and enthusiastic meeting was held recently in Adelaide for the purpose af making arrangements to accord a public reception and make a presentation to Archbishop O'Reily on his return from Europe. The Right Rev. Mgr. Byrne, V.G., who presided, said in tne course of his opening remarks, that the Arch'bushop when leaving for Europe had declined to receive a presentation, because he felt unwilling to add to his people's burdens. The Catholics of the Archdiocese during the last ten yfcars had reduced the central debt from £35,000 to £10,000, and in the 'meantime had built many churches, schools, and • presbyteries, maintained their own schools, and Were supporting many charitable institutions. Besides these the Catholics of the arendiocese had this year generously subscribed £500, which was presented to the Holy Father by the Archbishop. Speeches were also-'deliivered by the Yen. Archpriest Ne\in, Mr. P. McG.; Glyjnn, M.P., Hod. J;. V. o'Lo.ghlin, Mr. W. J. Denny, Dr. Gun-son, and others. The sum of £160 was subscribed at the meeting.
