(From our own correspondent.) April 14 It is with regret I have to announce the death of Mr. E. Brophy, which took place on April 6, after a short illness. He was in charge of the Napier Borciiigh water-service, and was one of tihe oldest and most esteemed officers of the Corporation. The deceased, wjho was a prominent member of St. Patrick's congre^ Ration, was an exemplary Catholic, and was attended in, his last illness by Rev. Father Goggan. The late Mr. Brtophy was 61 years of age, and a native of County Tipiperary, Ireland. Twenty-eight years ago he arrived in Napier, sihortly after which he became connected with the town waterworks, in which service he remained up to the time of his death. The deceased leaves a wiaow and a family of five sons and four daughters, to whom a wide circle of friends extends sincere sympathy. The funeral, which took place on April 8, was largely attended, the dortege comprising representatives of

the Hfkornian Society, of which deceased was a member, of the Napier and Spit Fire Br - gades, the Mayor, a nurniber of Borough Councillors, and Corporation employees, the waterworks staff acting as palPbearers.— R.l. P.
