ARCHDIOCESE OF WELLINGTON (From our own correspondent.) May 28. I am pleased to report a slight improvement'in the condition of Mr. John Cumin, who is still at the presbytery, Boulcott street. The Very Rev. Dean Grogan, of Wanganui, has been indisposed of late, and Rev. Father Holley, of Thorndon parish, has been to Wanganui to aid him in his duties. The St. Alovsius' branch of the H.A.C.B.S. held its meeting on Thursday evening last, and decided to hold a social gathering on June 29. Bro. J. W. Callaghan has been elected president in place of Bro. E. J. Fit/gibbon, who decided to take over the duties of secretary At the last meeting two new members were initiated The annual social gathering of the parishioners of Thorndon parish took place on Tuesday last and proved very successful The concert programme was as follows Song, Rev Father Hills ; vocal duet, Misses McDonald and. Vincent ; song, Mr. Searle ; recitation, Miss A. Duignan ; violin solo, Mr. C. Cimino ; song, Miss Pulsford ; song, Mr. Dykes ; song, Miss Segrief. The Children of Mary of the Wellington South parish, being anxious to secure a statue of the Blessed Virgin and an altar for the church, arranged, under the supervision of Sister M Chanel, a concert and social which uere held in the Victoria Hall on Wednesday evening last. Crombie, of the Advances to Settlers office, has been appointed in charge of the Inglewood office of Messrs Malone, McVeagh, and Anderson, solicitors, of Stratford. Mr. Crombie has always taken an active interest in Catholic affairs in the city. He is an old pupil of the Marist Brothers' School, and an exstudent of St. Patrick's College. About two years ago he passed his barrister's examination, and now leaves the Government service for the practice of his profession His departure will be keenly felt here, especially by the St Patrick's College Old Boys' Society, of which he was secretary, and in the formation of which he took such an energetic part. Mr. Crombie takes with him to Inglewood the best wishes of a very large circle of friends for his future success in the profession ho has adopted His place as secretary of the St. Patrick's College Old Boys' Society has been filled by Mr. A.
