(From our own correspondent.)
May 8. A specially jyummoned meeting of the H.A.C.B. Society was held on Wednesday last, at which a large attendance of members was present. Rro. Fred Herring in the chair. Bro. John Hurley, who has lately retired from farming in t,he Kairanga, and come to live in town, was unanimously elected to the vacant position of trustee. Bro. Fred Downey was elected as senior auditor in place of Bro. M. P, Feeney, who had resigned. Three new members were initiated and two proposed. Mr. John Lynch, Tokonraru, and Mr. W. Ryan were elected honorary members and heartily welcomed. It was decided to have a Hibernian stall at the coming bazaar in aid of the convent in November. Five members, together with the secretary, were appointed a bazaar committee and will take the maticr in hand Bro. Patrick Small generously offered to donate a pig and a sheep for a guessing competition, *<iid afterwards to be sold to swell the stall funds, with a promise of further help if required. Every effort will be made to make this stall a success, and with such a large body of enthusiasts it should not prove diflicult. The outer walls of the new convent are fast rising and are already several feet from the ground. A start has also been made with the school drill hall, which is to be completed by the middle of July. I understand it is already booked for the four days' poultry show immediately after the opening.
