MR. W H. HAYDON, JUN., DUNEDIN

It was only a few weeks ago that we had the pleasure of announcing that Mr. W. H. Haydon, Jun., one of the most zealous and energetic members of. St Joseph's Cathedral parish, had been admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court, and now the painful duty devolves on us of recording his death, which occurred early on Tuesday morning at his parents' residertce, Princes street, at the early age of 32 years' The deceased was educated at the Christian Brothers' School, the Wakari College (Diunodin), and St. Patrick's College (Wellington), and during his time at the last-named institution distinguished himself as an athlete, being a prominent member of the college football team, which for two years had an unbeaten record. On his return from Wellington he entered the office, of Mr Solomon (now Messrs Solomon and Gascoigne), soli-

He was also connected with the Grange and Dunedin Cricket Clubs, and the Dunedin Amatwr gating Club. The cause of death was peritonitis. The late Mr. HaydoH was of a mast genial disposition, and was highly as,toemed by a large circle of friends. Father MUrphy, Adm. ; deacon, Re,v. Father Corcoran ; subdeacon, Rev. Father O'Malley 1 . There were also present Rev. Fathers Howard Listopr, Buckley, and Cleary. At the close of the obseqpies Father Murphy made feeling reference to the loj,s sustained by the Catholic community in the death of Mr. Hiaydon. The remains were interred in the Northern Cemetery, and among 1 the mo-urners were representatives of the Hibernian Society, of which deceased was 'a member.
