We haw with deep ie«;iet to record the death of Si-ter Maty Hai baia Comeriuid, a membei of St Maiy's Convent of Men y, Ponsnnby, Auckland The deceased Sister, who passed away on Januaiy 1!), seemed to he m good health up to the week botoi'e her death The doctors vwie called in, and it became their painful duty to declare that her ailment was ot a senous nature They ■were most attentiw, and did their utmost to prolong her lite, hut owing to weakness of the heart, Sister Mary Baibata succumbed after a wry short illness Her death bii-ughi a se\ere pane; to the hearts of her sisters in iohgion, and many were the kind and bympathetic messages men ed by the community in their sad beieawment Sister Mary Barbara was born at Castlelomei, Co Kilkenny, Ireland She came to New Zealand, January fl, 1875, and celebrated her Sihcr Jubilee on January 7 ot the present year For many years she held the responsible oilice of burser in the Convent, the \aiious duties ot which she discharged with the most conscientious exactitude. She was of a timid and wry retiring disposition, and sweet and ami able in manner Death found her fully resigned and happy, and she who for many yeais was io her sisters in religion a bright example o' virtue, leaves behind her the solacing; thought that she is now enjoying the reward of her holy editjmg lite The obsequies took place in the Consent chapel His Lordship Dr Lenlhan presided. Solemn Requiem Mass was sung by the Very Rev. Dr Egan, \i Sli , deacon, Rev. M Furlong , sub-deacon, Re\ II HoifFfook , ma,stcr of ceremonies, Rev. G. (iillan Theie were also present Rev. Fathers Benedict, O P , Kehoe, Patterson, IVk'Guiness, Meagher, McMillan Duffy, and Hills, SM.-HI.P.
