Catholic Hospitals Praised

' There are no hospitals in the world superior to the Roman Catholic hospitals. The Sisters in charge are more than nurses— they are friends of the sick.' Thus (says the San Francisco ' Monitor ' of November 28) declared Rev. Dr. James M. Buckley, President of the Board of Managers of the Methodist Episcopal Hospital, Brooklyn, in an address at the dedicatory exercises attendant to the laying of the corner stone of the New England Hospital at Bellevue and Park streets, Longwood, Mass , the other day. Dr. Buckley, in speaking further of Catholic hospitals, said : ' Christian hospitals receive and care for the poor and wealthy alike. We must, however, distinguish between Roman Catholic hospitals and those maintained by different Protestant communions. There are no hospitals in the world superior to the Roman Catholic hospitals No distinction is made of race, color, or creed. I have visited many in all parts of the world, and have observed that the Sisters are more than nurses — they are the friends of the sick.'
