CFrom our own correspondent.) January 22. Rev. Father Tormey, of St. Benedict's, is, I deeply regret to state, laid up with typhoid fever at the Mater Misericordise Hospital, Mt. Eden, which is under th- oare of the Sisters of Mercy. It is to be earnestly wished that he may be soon restored to health Very Rev. Father Fitzgerald, 0.F.M., returned from Sydney laßt Monday. On Tuesday afternoon he left by train for Hamilton where he is to conduct the Retreat for the Sisters of the Mission. On his return to the city he will conduct the Retreat of the Little Sisters of the Poor, then a Retreat for the inmates of the Little Sisters, and finally he will oonduot a Retreat at Sf Mary's Convent Ponsonby, for ladies amongst the laity. ' Rev. Father Benedict, 0.P., preached at St. Benedict's last Sunday evening. In the morning at 11 o'clook Mass the choir, assisted by several of the members and orchestra of Williamson's Opera Company, rendered in fine style Mozart's Twelfth Maap.
