WEDDING BELLS.
H ANNEFIN— CO WE N. St. Patrick's Chnroh (writes a Waitahuna correspondent) was the eoene of an interesting ceremony on the 14th inst., the occasion being the marriage of Misß Mary Oowen, eldest daughter of Mr John Oowen, one of the oldess and most respected residents of Waitahuna, to Mr John Hannefin, of Allanton. The altar had been decorated for the occasion by the Bpeoial friends of the bride, and solemnity was added to the marriage ceremony by the celebration of a Nuptial Mass by the Very Rev. Mgr. O'Lsary. After the ceremony the wedding party drove to the residence of the bride's father, where a sumptuous wedding breakfast awaited them Several toasts were proposed and responded to by old friends of the family, the health of the bride and bridegroom being proposed by the Very Rev. Mgr. O'Leary. In the afternoon the wedding party drove to Mount Stewart, Mr and Mrs Hannefin takin? the train from there to Dunedin, bearing with them the good wishes of their friends for their future happiness and prosperity. In the evening Mr ani Mrs Co wen gave a dance in honor of the occasion, and it ia worthy of note that the dear old jigs and reels of the Old Country figured prominently on the programme. Songs, cards, etc., added very muoh to the evening's enj )yment. The gathering broke up with the singing of ' Auld lang syne,' and three cheers for Mr and Mrs Oowen and the bride and bridegroom.
