A Canard.
In Saturday's issue of the 'Otago Daily Times' there appeared a paragraph from its Wellington correspondent in which it was stated that there had been some serious differences of opinion at the local convent, the Mother Superior had left the Institution and was living privately with some friends, and some of the nuns had also left on account of unfair treatment by the Mother Superior. The correspondent has evidently drawn largely on his imagination. The Rev. Mother has resigned owing to ill-health and is staying with some friends prior to leaving for Australia. We have it jjn excellent authority that there is no friction in the convent, and no members 1 of the community have left the institution.
