Sydney, January 7.— At the wool sales bidding was very spirited, and prices were firmly maintained. Continental buyers were operating especially freely. Scoureds sold to 22|d per It>— a record for the season— and greasy fetched Ib. y

London, January B.— The Bradford wool market is brisk. Super sixties, 25d ; forty-sixes, 18f d ; other classes, unchanged. At the Antwerp wool sales ouyers were very numerous, and the bidding animated. Of 1600 bales La Plata offered, 1236 were sold. Merinos were 5 per cent and crossbreds 10 per cent, above the closing rates of the October sales. Invercargill, January B.— -The wool sales to-day seem to have given satisfaction. The bidding was spirited throughout, especially for the better class of hogget wool which brought lid to 2*d more than at the first sale last year. Pieces were in strong request at 2d advance. Merino was a little, and halfbred Id to 2d higher. For first combing merino hogget lOd was refused. The top price for first combing crossbred was 7sd. Most of too lots withdrawn have since been sold. Auckland, January 13.— The second wool sale of the season commenced to-day. The catalogues embraced 4228 bales, which is considerably in excess of the quantity put forward at the previous sale. Prices, compared with last sale, show an all-round advance of a farthing, while the better grown wools an improvement of a half-penny Halfbred realised ssd to 8f d ; fine crossbreds, s*d to 7d ; coarse and medium crossbreds, 4£d to f-fcd • stained and cuts, 4d to 4id ; pieces, 3*d to 4d ; bellies, up to 4fd. One lot of merino not catalogued realised 9d. Competition was keen throughout. Timaru, January 13.— The second wool sale of the season opened this morning, and 8776 bales were offered. There was a large attendance of buyers, representing Home and colonial mills. Competition was -very keen for coarse wools. The best prices were 10^d merino 4d halfbred, 7sd three-quarterbred, 6£d crossbred. Compared with the last Timaru sale, merino has declined |d per lb, and halfbred id to id ; while three-quarterbred has advanced £d to Jd.
