CONVENT SCHOOLS, NELSON.

There was a large attendance at St. Mary's Hall. Nelson, on the occasion of the distribution of prizes to the pupils of the Sacred Heart High School and St. Mary's Select School. The Major presided. An excellent entertainment comprising vocal and instrumental music, and a cautata was given by the pupils. Misses Frank, Vaughan, Merc, r, Constable, Curran, Uwyer, Crisp, Fergubou', Stewart, Falkner, Wiewner, Eden, Li^ht, Louissin, 0. Stewart.' Roughton, Martin, D. Frank, K. Stewart, Pheian, aid Nielson gave pianoforte duets, four instruments being ÜBed ; Mibs E. Wini^ett gave a harp solo ; Misses G. Frank, Gibbs and McMahon, violin solos. In the cantata, Misaes Stapp, Stewart, Hailes, Gibbg (2), Kelly, Condell, Roughton, O'Brien, (J. Stewart, M. Kelly, Light! McMahon, and Wimsett gave the solos, representing the Recluse and

the various flowers, while the rest of the pupils sang the ohoruses. Ihe bright appearanoe of the pupils, combined with the flawera, made a beautiful scene, and one whioh drew forth rounds or applause from the audience. The whole entertainment (Hays the Colonist) was a grtat success ; the music being Rood, the einging sweet, and the representations gracefully performed. The Mayor, Judge Robinhon, and the Very Rev. Dean Mahoney gave brief addresses and congratulated the pupils and the Sisters on the excellence of the entertainment.
