The Convent school concert, which it was proponed to hold in St. Patrick's Hal), South Dunedin, on Tuesday has been postponed until to-morrow (Friday) night. The distribution of prizes to the pupils of the Christian Brothers' School will take place at St. Joseph's Hall, on Friday at two o'clock. H'» Lordship the Right Rev. Dr. Verdon will preside. A meeting of the Catholic SchuuV picnic committee wfis held laafc week whpn it was decided to hold the annual outing for the ohildren at Waitati, Mr. (Jolehan having kindly placed his paddock at the disposal of the committee. The date has been fixed for Wednesday, February 5, and all arrangements have been made with the railway authorities. Mr. W. H. Huydon, jun , has been appointed secretary. The midsummer vacation began a<* Holy Cross College, Moßgiel, on Monday la*t. During the previous week the ptudents were examined in their various classes in the presence of his Lordship Dr. Vftrdon (Rector). la the report forwarded to the Archbishop and Bishops of the province of New Zealand the Right Rev. Dr. Verdon was able to state that the seminary is making very satisfactory progress. Since the institution was opened 19 months ago 22 students have entered. One of these has been sent to Rome, and another to Manly College, Sydney, to rend Philosophy and Theology. There are students in the college from all the dioceses of the Colony. The admirable situation of the institution no doubt accounts in a measure for the excellent health enjoyed by the students, whose conduct during the year was all that could be desired. The college will re-open after the vasation on Saturday, February 15.
