GREYMOUTH.

(From our own correspondent.)

May 12. Very Rev. Dean Martin was recently in town. The venerable D> an is still hale and hearty. At all the Mat-ses on last Sunday Rev. Father Kimbell read the Pastoral issued by his Lordship Bishop Grimes. Tne latest news from Very Rev. Dean Carew is from Dundalk. Our revert d pastor was well and longing again to be amongst his people in Grey mouth. It is officially announced that the Right Rev. Dr. Grimes, accompanied by Very Rev. Dean Foley, will visit the West Coast in a few weeks' time. After a successful business career of over 30 years Mr. O'Kane has disposed of his bakery to Messrs. Quinlau and Blanchfield, who being steady industrious young men will no doubt do well. Greymouth is rapidly becoming an important centre, business being extremely brisk. Houses are being rapidly built, especially in the direction of the hospital. The Right Hon. the Premier is at present in Greymouth, he and his good lauy being called here owing to the dangerous illness o their daughter, Mrs. Dr. C. Morice. Their numerous friends will be plea-ed to know that the patient is now convalescent. At the municipal elections .Mr. 1). Sheedy was second at the poll. Mr. T. Joyce was also well up. Messrs. Sheedy and Joyce are very old councillors. Their past services are certainly appreciated by the ratepayers. With his wonted energy Father Kimbell is hard at work reorganising the Catholic Club. It is to be hoped that the rev. gentleman's efforts will be seconded by the men of the congregation. If there is one thing more than another that should receive the fullest support of the clergy and laity it is societies of this kind.
