(From our own correspondent.) April 22. The Right Rev. Bishop Grimes was, at a general meeting of the Duke of Cornwall reception committee, elected a member of the address sub-committee. The recently-formed St. Mary's Catholic Ladies' Club held a musical evening at their rooms, Manchester street Schoolroom, on Thursday last. Mr, W. H. Corrigan has accepted the honorary appointment of oonduotor and choirmaster of St. Mary's Church, Manchester street. Mr. Corrigan is a musician of considerable repute, and well known in musical circles. A very successful ooncert was given on Friday evening in the Ricoarton Sohoolroom in aid of the Hornby Church funds (St. Michael's), There was a crowded attendance and the various items of a well-arranged programme were much appreciated. On Wednesday last the pupils of St. Mary's Convent High School, Colombo street, numbering with their teachers and friends upwards of 80, were treated by the Sisters of Mercy to a most enjoyable outing and pionic, the weather being perfect. Mr. and Mrs. G. T. White very kindly placed their pretty grounds at Sumner at the disposal of the party, where games and amusements of various kinds were heartily indulged in, Mrs. White doing everything poaBible for the pleasure and comfort of the Sisters and their pupils. A return to town by the evening tram marked the close of an exceptionally pleasant day.
