June 18. Messrs. Collins and Harman, architects, are inviting tanders for additions to the church at Ha ward en. The members of the Confraternity of the Children of Mary held a special meeting on Sunday afternoon to arrange for the furnishing and management of a stall at the forthcoming carnival Thursday last, the Feast of Corpus Christi and patronal feast of the Pro-Cathedral, was observed with due solemnity. On Sunday the Blessed Sacrament was exposed from the High Mass till after Vespers for the adoration of the Faithful, the customary outdoor procession being on this occasion dispensed with. The Catholics of Leeston held their annual ooncert in aid of the school funds, on Tuesday evening last, in the local Town Hall Songs were contributed by Mesdames Askew and Mitchell, Misses Moir, Duncan, and Loader, and Messrs. Haydon, Longstaff, and Evans ; step dances were given by Mr. E. Sullivan. Miss Lunn played as overtures pianoforte selections in good style, and with Miss Loader furnished the accompaniments. An enjoyable evening's entertainment terminated with the singing of the National Anthem.

The community of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd at Mount Magdala have suffered the loss by death of one of their devoted band, which sad event occurred on June 4, after a brief illness. The deceased nun, Sister Mary of the Annunciation, joined the Order nine years ago, and was at the time of her death 37 years of age. During her illness the Very Rev. Father Ginaty, chaplain of the institution, was in constant attendance, flis Lordship the Bishop also made frequent visits, imparting the consolations of religion and administering the last rites of the Church. A Bequiem Mass was celebrated in the convent chapel by the Very Rev. Father LeMenant des Chesnais on Wednesday, June 6, who preached an impressive funeral sermon, and conducted the burial service in the little cemetery adjoining the institution Amongst those present were the Very Rev. Deans Chervier and Foley, Very Rev. Father Ginaty, Rev. Fathers Marnane and McDonnell. The body was carried to its last resting place by the father, brothers, and relatives of the deceased. The scene at the grave was a most impressive one the inmates of the institution being greatly moved. 1t. 1. P.
