DUNEDIN HORSE SALEYARDS.

Messrs. Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report as follows :—: —

For this week's sale a fair number of horses came forward, including 15 held over from last week, most of which were sold at advanced rates. Business, on the whole, was very fair considering that there was not a decent draught horse in the yard. The only specimens of this class forward were aged and inferior, but even these were sold at satisfactory prices. There is an excellent demand in this market for young, first-class draughts, but seldom of late do these come forward, owing no doubt to the fact that farmers are busy with the harvesting. There was a poor yarding, too, of good spring van and spring cart horses. A good inquiry exists at present for these, and buyers appear to be much disappointed at the numbers coming forward. We would strongly advise anyone with these on hand to try our market, and we are sure that the result will be more than satisfactory. Good hacks are aleo selling well, and vendorß are well satisfied with the prices realised. We quote : — Superior young draught geldings, L4O to L 45 ; extra good, prize horses, L 46 to LSO ; medium draught mares and geldings, L3O to L3B ; aged do, L2O to L 27 ; upstanding carriage horses, L 25 to L3O ; well-matched carriage pairs, LSO to L6O ; strong spring van horses, L 22 to L2B ; milk cart and butchers' order cart horses, Lls to L2O ; tram horses, L 8 to Ll2 ; light hacks, L 6 to L 10;1 0; extra good do, Lls to L 23 ; weedy and aged hacks and harness horses, L 2 to L 5.
