NEWS FROM THE CONSTITUENCIES.

Mr. A G. Rhodes has d finitely decided to contett the Avon seat against all comers. Sir G. 11. O'Rorke has definitely decided to contest the Manukau seat at the General Klectiun. Mr. W. A. M'Leod .muounces himself as a candidate for the Bay of Inlands. Mr. Malcolm Niccol will light Mr. Bollard, the present member, for the Eden seat. Mr. A. R. Atkinson will contest Wellington City on the Prohibition ticket. Mr. A. Morris, a supporter of the present Government, w ill be a candidate for luverc»rgill. Mr. J. J. Ramsay has definitely decided that he will not contest the Tuapeka seat at the General Eieotion. It is reported that Colonel M'DonneU will be a candidate for Wanganui on the Independent ticket. Mr. George Fisher has announced that he will seek the suffrages of the electors of the Empire City at the Genera} Election. Mr. A. S. Malcolm, the teacher of the Kelso School, is definitely out for the Clutha seat in the Prohibition interest. Mr. I. W. Raymond of Wyndham, has announced himself as a candidate for the Mataura seat in the Opposition interest. The Workers' Political Committee have selected Mr. Morrison as the parliamentary candidate for the Caversham constituency. Should sufficient inducement be offered in the way of general support it is likely Mr. E. J. O'Connor will come forward for | Motueka. Mr. R. C. Bruce, who is a very eloquent speaker, is likely to come forward in the Opposition interest for Manawatu against Mr. J. Stevens, the sitting member. Mr. Crowther says he will fight all comers at the general election for Auckland City. The Hon. E. Mitchelston will contest tide City also, on she Opposition ticket. There is a rumour that Mr. George Hutchison will have to fight for Patea seat, and that his opponent will be Mr. John Wilkie, contractor, who will be backed up by the Government. Mr. Meredith is to be opposed for Ashley by Mr. J. O'Malley o* Geraldine. Mr. O'Malley will come forward in the Liberal interest* There are rumoura also that Mr. Caverhill will be a oandidate. Mr. W. Monkhouse (Egmont) and Mr. G. Harold Smith (Pahiatua) will be the Opposition candidates for these seats, now held by Ministerialists. Mr. T. Higgie will be the Liberal oandidate against Mr. Carson, the sitting member, for Wanganui. It is rumoured that Mr. C. Samson intends, at the end of hi* term, to resign his position on the Charitable Aid and Hospital Boards, the Taieri Licensing Committee, and the Taieri County Council, and contest the Taieri election against Mr. Carncross, and any other candidates who may come forward. At a special meeting of the Dunedin Workers' Political Corn* mittee the names of Messrs. J. A. Millar, M.H.R., D. Thomson, and J. F. Arnold were directed to be sent to the various unions to ballot tor two candidates to contest the City at the General Election. It is understood that the Liberal and Labour Association will select a third candidate for the City to be run with the two selected by the unions. Mr. R. Hobbs has consented, in response to a requisition, to stand for Auckland City in the Opposition interest. The Wellington correspondent of the Otago Daily Time* says :— With regard to the report that the Liberal and Labour Federation bad selected Messrs. Napier and Ronser for the Auckland seat, with the view of accepting Mr. Witheford as third, if he is eligible, Mr. Holland says he has received no communication from Auckland on the sub feet, and cannot say whether the report is true or not. However, he will in any case be a candidate at the coming General Election whether he is chosen by the Liberal and Labour Federation or not.
