THE DOMINICAN NUNS IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA.

According to private accounts received by Tuesday's mail, the Dominican nuns who recently went from Dunedin to VVestern Australia left Perth — where they had stayed for a week — for their new sphere of labours on June f>. They set out at 7 o'clock in the morning for the long journey to Geraldton, reaching their destination at 12. 1T) at night. They were met about halt-w ay by Bishop Kelly, who accorded them a most hearty welcome and made the remainder of their journey as pleasant as possible. At Geraldton the Dominican nuna stayed at the Presentation Convent. On the following afternoon they drove to their new home at Greenough. On their way they were met by a large number of vehicles, the occupants of which cheered and waved their hats in cordial welcome as the Sisters parsed. They then fell in and a long procession was formed. As Gnenough was approached, green, red, white, and other coloured flags were seen floating over the public and other buildings. A triumphal arch, made of palms, was placed at the entrance of the convent grounds, with the W.A. flag floating over it. Round about there was a gay display of flags and mottoes of welcome in Irish and English. The scene was quite a febtive one. The nuns were formally conducted to the school, which was turned into a dining-hall for the occasion. Addresses of welcome were read and the people were introduced to the nuns, to whom they displayed every manifestation of respect and esteem. The nuns speak and write in enthusiastic terms of the great kindness of the Right Rev. Dr. Kelly, the Bishop of the newly created see of Geraldton. The nuns have opened two schools, the one at Greenough, tho other at a short distance away.
