McGuire, M.TI.R. In the highest terms he spoke of Rev. Father j Cah ill's ability, and of the great amount of good he had done in the i parish. The address, which he was presently to call on the energetic secretary, Mr. o'Donnell, to read, would, he hoped, always remind ' the Rev. Father of the number of friends he had left in the district. While speaking of the address, Mr. McGuire said he could not pass ; it, over without giving the greatest credit to the artist, Miss Annie 1 Fly mi. It was a magnificent piece of work, and before proceeding further with other businoss he proposed a vote of thanks to the i young lady, which was carried by acclamation. The following address was t then read by the secretary :—: — ' Dear Rev. Father,— lt is with feelings cf heartfelt sorrow that we. the parishioners of Haw era and the surrounding district, assemble to wish you good-bye. Although with us only a few ■ mouths, you have emL-ared yourself to us by your great kindness i and forgetfulness of self. We congratulate you most sincerely on . your promotion to the dignity of parish priest of Dannevirke, and i pray that our dear Lord and His Holy Mother may guard and bless I you in your new sphere. In conclusion, we beg your acceptance of the accompanying purse of sovereigns as a slight token of our appreciation of your great services, and asking a remembrance in your prayers during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.— We remain dear Rev. Father Cahill, in replying, thanked ' them for their generosity and kindness, and wished them all God's 1 choicest blessings', both spiritual and temporal. i Before the meeting closed short addresses were also given by , Very Rev.
