Orientals have ways of showing- their joy which strike the colder occidental mind as decidedly incongruous, but which no doubt seem quite natural to themselves. Thus we read in a recent Indian Catholic paper :— " On April 22. tour newly-ordained priests said Mass for the first time, in the Church of Our Larly of Lourdes, Trichur. Dr. John Menacheri, Vicar-Apostolic of that place, performed the ceremony of ordination on Holy Saturday. In the evening the newly-ordained priests, in honour of their first Mass, gave a dinner, at which fifty-four clergymen were present. At five o'clock there was an acrobatic performance, which served to entertain the spectators." — London Tablet.
