RECEPTION OF CHILDREN OF MARY.

The beautiful, though simple ceremony of the reception of Children of Mary, took place in St. Joseph's Cathedral on Sunday evening in the presence of a large congregation. The Very Rev. Father Lynch officiated. The aspirants, who numbered 19 in all, wore the distinctive dress of the Children of Mary with the exception of the sash and medal with which they were afterwards invested. The candidates having approached the altar rails, Father Lynch put to them the usual questions. The answers were give unitedly and notwithstanding the large number of candidates, they were given with great clearness and distinctness. Father Lynon then invested the aspirants with the sash and medal, the " livery of Mary," exhorting each one to be a good child of so tender a mother and to be always faithful to the rules and pious practices of the association. In the sermon delivered after the reception Father Lynch referred at length to the noble work done in the past by the Sodality of the Children of Mary and earnestly urged the young women of the congregation to give the question of joining the association their most serious consideration.
