Calumnies and persecutions are favours which are bestowed by God on those who serve Him faithfully. They are means employed by the Divine Wisdom to sanctify souls the more, and to wean them from everything that could prevent them from being perfectly united to Him. — St Vincent de Paul. Nothing is easier than fault-finding. No talent, no self-denial, no brains, no character are required to set up in the grumbling business. But those who are moved by a genuine desire to do good, have little time for murmuring or complaint. " Cultivate the habit of always seeing the best in people, and, more than that, of drawing forth whatever is the best in them." Is Christianity a failure ? No. it is not : but many professing Christianity are failures. Even as pagans they are not respectable. An out-and-out heathen is decent and honest compared to the man or woman sailing themselves Christians, and whose life is unchristian. Christianity should not be judged by those who do not practise its principles, but by those who, knowing, practise them. What kind of a Christian are you ?
