CHRISTCHURCH LEAGUE OF THE CROSS.

Last Thursday's (June 4) meeting of the abave Society was one of tbe largest ever known since its commencement. Rev Father Galeroe bad very kindly consented to contribute a lecture on " The secrets of hidden life " as the programme for the evening. Tbe Rev Father explained in a most creditable and interesting manner the spiritual and temporal life of the Trappist, from bis entrance to this moßt profound Order to bis sublime and holy death. All the members paid the utmost attention to the able lecturer, and were much edified by tbe many mortifications and trials which the Trappiats undergo. A hearty vote of thanks was proposed by Mr Hayward and seconded by Mr Finlay to the Rev Father Galeroe for his evening's entertainment, after which tbe meeting terminated.
