ENTERTAINMENT AT PALMERSTON NORTH.

Tna annual gathering in aid of 8t Patrick's school was held in the drillshed last night and proved a thorough success in every way. The attendance was very large. The hall was prettily decorated with evergreens, and the stage presented a pleasing sight. The first part consisted of a tea party, tbe good things provided being greatly appreciated by those present. The following presided at the tables :—: — Bachelors' table — Mesdames McGrath, Clarkson, Mooney, Booth, and Misses Prendergast, Booth, and Anderson. Children's table — Mesdumes Hing Chee, Wiltshire and Foley. Public tables— Mesd&mes BlcWilliams, Ryan, Donnel ly, M.ss^b Dnscoll and Snow, and 4th table, Meedames Oakley, llanlon, and Misses Dixor, Stepheuson, Oakley, and McDonnell. Before the concert commenced, Jane Desmond, on behalf of the children attending the Fchool, in a pleasing style presented Father Patterson with a beautiful dinner set, which was greatly admin (I, Father Pat' erpon vx pressed the deep gratitude he felt at the h:srds me present. He said bo appreciated it the more coming as it did spontaruous'y from the children. Father Golden a'so addressed tho meeting, his remarks being enthusiastic illy received. The concert, at which the Mayor presided, proved a genuine treat, all the lttms being of a highly pdj >jable nature. The following took part in the proganame : — Misses Driscoll, Anderson, Rodgors (2), Rush, Butler, «nd Messrs Adama, Gamble, Pickering, Brophy, Ciaikson, Rush, and the choir. Tho Rev Father Patterson cordially thanked all thoße who assisted in making the gatheiing so successful. A very enjoyable dance wound up the night's amusement, Messrs Brophy and Toomath acting as masters of the ceremonies.
