The trades union congress recently held in England has approved the introduction of a bill giving rural labourers holding land allotments a guarantee of tenure for the land A resolution was passed declaring that employers ought to be legally punished for importing extra labour into any locality where the existing supply is sufficient to meet tbe needs of the district. It was also resolved that promoters of public works should be compelled to provide suitable dwelling?, with thorough sanitary appointments, for their workmen.

A curious postal card has reached Strasburg, Germany, from Canada. It is a piece of bark, on which is pasted a piece of paper, with tbe address, the date, and the words " Post card of the American primeval woods post." The buck contained the letter, not written, but scratched on the bark, and perfectly legible. Tbe sender is a painter and traveller, Rudolph Cronin, who is on a pedestrian tour in Canada. The receiver is going to give the card to the Postal Museum in Berlin.
