OBITUARY.

(From the Wellington Post ) We regret to hear of the death of Rev Father Landouar, S.M , latt of Nelson, which took placs on Monday morning, August 27, at the Presbytery, Boulcott street. The deceased, who was a native of Britanny, France, arrived here in 1887, and since that time he bad been assistant priest to the Very Rev Father Mahoney, S.M., at Nelson where he was universally esteemed, not only by his own people bat by all classes of the commanity. Father Landouar was never very strong, being a sufferer from consumption. Lately the doctors of Nelson auvised him to take a chaDge. He came over to Wellington about four weeks age, but although every care has baen taken since his arrival, he gradually sank, and expired in his 36th year. The faneral obsr quiea took place on Wednesday morning in St Mary of the Angels' Church, Boole ,tt s'reet. A solemn requiem Mass was celebrated, the celebrant being Very Rev Father Devoy, 8 M., V Q. • Rev Father De Lech, S.M., deacoo ; Rev Father Doherty, 8.M., Bubdeacon ; and the Rev Father Goggan, S.M , master of ceremonies The Mass in the choir was sung by the Fatbers from St Patrick's College, assisted by Rev Fathers Dawson and Patterson, and Mr R A. Loughnan. In the sanctuary were his Gr cc the Archbishop,' Very Rev Dr Wattere, 8.M., Very Rev Father Mahoney, S.m! (Nelson), Rev Father O'Hallahan (Kumara;, and Rev Fathers Lane and Donnelly (Hutt). There was a large congregation present. Several wreaths were sent over from Nelson, amongit them a beautiful one from the Mayor. At the ecd of the Mass bis Grace the Archbishop preached a touching and eloquent panegyric on the virtuous and zealous life of the good priest, whose mortal remains l»y before them in the church. He exhorted all to take a lesson from the ceremonies of that morning and prepare for a happy deatb by imitating the virtue? of the deceased. His Grace then gave the last absolution, and the funeral cortege started fur Karori Cemetery. The pallbearers were Messrs M. Kennedy, R P. Collins, J. Gallagher and O'Connell. Several members of ih ■ Hibernian Society f rmed a guard of honour. A number of pupils from Si Patick'd Co'legt and from the Marnt Brothers' School walked in the p oresuon. Very Rev Father Mahory, S.M (Ne'son), read the burial service at the grave, and when he bad fiaiahed be returned |tharks to all for the great kindnets and respect shown to bis late beloved friend and confrere. The rpmairs of tie late Father Lindouar were interred beside those of Father Carolan, S.M — R IP. The memory of the late Vjry Rev Father Kerrigan, for 14 years in charge of Te Aro Parish, is to be perpetuited by the erection of two stained glass windows in the sanctuary ol St Joseph's Church, Buckle street. Toe Vicar-General (V< ry Rev Fatter Devoy) is to procure various dtßign* and Bubmit them to a committee of parishioners.
