MEBBKB. Weight, Stephenbon and Co. report as follows :— The entry to-day was a small one and was composed almost exclusively of light horses. There was a fair demand, aod considering the quality of the horses forward a good proportion changed hands. The moat inquiry was experienced for useful backs and harness horses, at prices ranging from Ll2 to Ll7. Consignment* of such horses would meet with a good market. Owing to next Saturday being a race day our usual weekly sale will be held on Monday (the 30th inst) instead. We quote— First-class draughts (extra heivy), L 25 to L3O ; good ordinary do (young), LlB to L 22 ; medium

Best crossbred wethers brought 17s to 20s ; ordinary do, 14a to 16s ; ewes up to 19* 9d. Lambs— Bß were penned, which Bold nnder good competition at 7s 6J to 12*. Store Cattle — These continue very high, all offered finding purchasers at prices perhaps slightly higher than those lately quoted. Store Sheep— Owing to the good spring the demand for these is increasing, and a rise has taken place in all lines, especially hogg.'ts, for which a fair enquiry exists. Wool— There ia nothing fresh to advise nnder this heading, shearing, however, has commenced in the north, and a few small iinea are coming into store. Sheepskins— Tbr c ar« ptill pc ling well, and, with a better outlook in the wool market, we expect them to continue firm. Rabbitskins— The number forward has fallen < 2 greatly. Best Winter greyp, mixed, Is 2d to Is 2^d ; best does, Is 3i ; extra primp, Is 3£d ; spring 10 Ji to 13£ d ; medium, B^d to 9id ; inferior, 6£l to 8d ; suckers and half-grown, 3d to s\d. Grain — Wheat is if anything lower tb<m last week. Quotations are beat milling. Tuacan and velvet, 2s 9J to 2s 101; medium to good, 2s 8d to 2i 9J ; inferior, 2i 6d to 2j 7J ; (ex store, sacks in, terms.) Oats are mnch on a par with late quota'iors. Best milling is worth 2a to 2s Id ; best short feed, Is lid to 2* ; medium to good, Is lOJd ; inferior to medium, Is 9d to Is 10£ d.
