ST FRANCIS XAVIER'S ACADEMY, WELLINGTON.
A very successful entertainment was given in the Theatre Royal on December 16, in aid of the prize fund of this school. The programmej^rhich was admirably carried ont, was as follows :—: —

Three of the young ladies, we may add, have entered this year for the University matriculation examination. Of four students last year for the mistresses' " E " certificate, three secured full passes, and one a partial pass. This year twelve candidates for the same certificate have been "coached" at the academy. Larger premises have recently been taken, and increased accommodation is therefore offered to boarders.
