DUNEDIN HORSE SALEYARDS.

Messrs. Wright, Stbphknson and . Co. report as follows :— Our sale on Saturday was remarkable for the shipment of really excellent draught horses from Melbourne offered at it but these we regret to say, did not meet with the competition that the quality of the horses deserved. There was not an inferior animal in the lot, and althongh the buyers present recognised the excellence of the horses, yet they were unwilling to give such prices as would leave tba importer a fair profit. Oat of the nineteen horses offered only six fonnd purchasers at from L 27 to L2l 10s. The balance of the horses offered consisted .chiefly of i town and dealers' lots, a good number of the low-priced ones finding purchasers. We quote — For first-class draughts (extra heavy;, L 25 to L3O ; good ordinary draughts (youag), LIB to L 22 ; medium draughts, Ll2 to Ll6 ; aged draughts, L6to L 10;1 0; good hacks and harness horses, Ll2 to Ll6 ; medium backs and harness hones, L 7 to L 9; light and inferior hacks and harness horses, L 2 10s to L 5.

Messrs Donald Bbid and Co. report as follows :— Store Cattle — The entry was a small one, only 29 head being: penned. Competition wog brisk for every lot offered, many buyers having to go away unapplied. Two-year-old steers sold at L 3 10s ; one-year-old do, L 2 13* ; cows and heifers, L3sato L 4 15s. Horses — 23 were entered for sale. Few buyers present, and demand not brisk. Medium draughts sold at Lls 10s ; spring-carters. Ll3 , backs.) Medium winters sold at lljd to 12£ d ; spring, Bid to lUd : summer, s*d to 7Jd ; suckers, 2Jd to 3jd. * Sheepskins— Green orossbreds sold at 3s lOd to 5a 4d ; do merinos, 3s to 4s Id ; do pelts, Is to Is 3d ; do lambs, Is Id to Is Td ; dry crossbreds, 2s Id to 5s lOd ; do merinos, Is 5d to 4s 4d ; do pelts and lambs, 4d to 2s 7d. Hides— Prime bavies 2£d to 3d ; medium, 2d to 2Jd ; light, IJd to ljd ; inferior, slippy, ljd to l£d per lb. Tallow — Strong demand for all descriptions and ready sale. Prime rendered 18s to 20s ; medinm, 15s to 17s ; inferior, 12a to 14s ; rough fat, 9s to 13a per cwt. Wheat — We quote, nominal 'y— Prime milling, 3a to 3s 3d ; mediam, 2s 9d to 2» lid ; inferior, 2a 6d to 2a 8d ; fowl wheat, 2a to 2s sd. Oats— We quote— Prime milling, Is 9id to Is 10M ; bright feed la B£d to. Is 9d ; medium, Is 7d to Is Bd. Chaff— Quotations are as follows— Prime, 50s to 555; medium, 40s to 47s 6d ; inferior, 25s to 35a. Grass Seeds— We quote the following prices, which are in favour of buyers— Machine-dressed ryegrass, 3a to 3s 3J ; farmer's, prime, 2s per boshtl ; cocksfoot, 3£ 1 per lb.

Mb F. Mbbnan, King street, reports :— Wholesale price— Oats : Is 6d to Is 9d (bags extra). Wheat (sacks included) : Milling, 2a 9d to 3s 3d, demand dull ; fowls', Is 9d to 2s 6d. Chaff : Inferior to medium, good Bupply, demand dull, £1 10 aOd to £2 68 Od ; prime np to £2 15s Od, good demand ; hay, oaten, quality superior, demand dull, £2 10$ to £3 Os ; ryegrass, £3 os, of good quality. Potatoes, old market bare, demand dull, 22s 6d to 253 ; new provincial kidneys, £9 Oa Od, good demand ; imported, £4 0s Od to £6 0s Od. Flour : Holler, £9 0* to £9 15a ; stone, £8 0s to £8 16s, demand quiet. Oatmeal, bulk, £8 10a ; 251bs, £9 0a to £9 10s. Batter, fresh 6d to 9d ; potted, denund dall, 7£i for prime. Eggs, 9d per dozen.
