BRACKENBRIDGE.

(From an occasional Correspondent,)

Balcairn, August 1, 1892. The weather hns settled down to bright, sunny days and sharp, frosty nights. During the early part of last week there were three or four days of the real old sou -w esters, hail, rain, aod saow, which put a stop to all outdoor work, and made farmers with early lambs draw very long faces.

On last Sunday week at the Brackenbridge Catholic Church, the Rev Father Laverty said Mass at 11 a.m., and commenced a course of sermons on the nature and institution of the Christian Doctrine. He has also established a choir, which is making very good progress considering the short time it has been in existence. Since Father Laverty has been in the district he has infusqd new life into Charch matters. His uniform kindness and courtesy have endeared him to bis own people, and he is also highly esteemed and respected by all denominations. Considering that bis two churches are 25 miles apart, and his parish over 50 miles in length, it is surprising the number of friends he has made in a short time.
